Welcome spring with music from the late Middle Ages for vielles, voices, and harps! Nick Chrisman, Shulamit Kleinerman, and Bill McJohn share beguiling melodies from Guillaume de Machaut, Francesco Landini, John Dunstaple, and more, invoking the pains of love, the joy of praise, and the vigor of the returning season.
The performers are Camlann regulars: since 2011, Shula has led summer festival performances by the youth ensemble from Seattle Historical Arts for Kids, sometimes with Bill’s accompaniment. Nick sang and acted in the ensemble as a child; he has returned to Camlann as a SHAK faculty artist and, this season, as an entertainer at the Bors Hede. A pair of teen SHAK recent graduates join in on pilgrim cantigas from Spain and some favorite songs from Piae Cantiones, the centuries-old song collection of the young choir students of the cathedral of Turku, Finland.
Doors open at 6 PM ; drinks available for purchase before the performance and during intermission.
